What is a ChatGPT text checker for essays?

A ChatGPT text checker reviews essay wording for phrases and patterns that may need revision. PassMyEssay highlights the text it finds so you can inspect it alongside your argument. It does not prove that ChatGPT wrote the essay, verify your sources or predict a mark. Use the findings to make deliberate language edits, then check the evidence yourself.

How to check ChatGPT essay text paragraph by paragraph

Start with a paragraph you understand well enough to explain without the draft. Keep its topic sentence, evidence and interpretation together when you paste it. A phrase can look unnecessary in isolation but introduce a real qualification in context. The aim is to find language that weakens your reasoning, rather than remove everything that looks formal.

Run the scan, then read each marked passage with the explanation. Ask whether it says something specific about your subject. If the sentence could fit almost any essay, return to the relevant source and identify the particular observation you want to discuss. Add only details you can support; the checker does not supply missing research.

Replace generic essay phrasing with the point you can support

An essay needs a reason for each sentence. Introductions such as “it is important to note” can postpone an observation that would be clearer on its own. Removing them may help, but cutting language should not erase the study population, time period or limitation that makes the claim accurate.

The example below is an illustrative edit. It makes an observation direct and keeps the sample boundary. It does not claim that a specific experiment occurred, demonstrate a live scan or supply evidence for your own assignment. Use the same comparison on your actual paragraph with its real source open.

Keep the sample boundary · illustrative example
Before

It is important to note that the survey suggests that students in this sample had difficulty finding a quiet place to study after work.

After

The survey suggests that students in this sample had difficulty finding a quiet place to study after work.

The introductory filler is removed. “Suggests” and “in this sample” remain because deleting either would make the claim stronger than the original.

Check ChatGPT citations before polishing the sentence

Source checking is a separate part of essay revision. Find the original article, chapter or dataset and confirm its author, title and date. Then locate the passage supporting your sentence. A real publication can still be the wrong source for a particular claim, and a correct bibliography entry does not validate the paraphrase beside it.

OpenAI warns that ChatGPT can produce fabricated citations and confident errors. PassMyEssay’s phrase checker does not query a library catalogue or verify a reference. If you cannot locate the source, remove or replace the unsupported claim before asking for a more natural version of the wording.

Use a targeted rewrite when the rest of your paragraph works

If the argument and evidence already work, you may only need a small edit. The first two humanize modes target detected AI-sounding phrases and patterns. They are intended for changing those parts while preserving the surrounding draft. The last mode is the full rewrite option and can revise the whole passage.

Rewriting requires a paid PassMyEssay plan. Account creation does not grant a complimentary rewrite or free trial. Once you review a result, compare subjects, dates, citations, negatives and qualifications with the original. Reject a change that improves the rhythm while changing what your essay actually argues.

ChatGPT text checking is different from an authorship verdict

A phrase finding describes the wording in front of you. It cannot establish whether you, ChatGPT or another person wrote it. Taught academic expressions and clear technical definitions can appear in human writing. A passage with no findings also does not prove human authorship or certify originality.

For your own writing record, keep research notes, dated drafts and source references. Follow your course’s rules about AI assistance and disclosure. The most useful outcome of this check is a paragraph whose language and evidence you can explain, rather than a promise about what an external detector or marker will decide.

Keep the meaning intact

What should you check in the result?

Compare each proposed change with the essay question. Preserve the source attribution and the difference between what the evidence shows and what you infer from it.

For the written argument, use the essay phrase checker, grammar checker or word counter for a separate, clearly defined revision task.

Your questions

ChatGPT text checker FAQ

How do I check a ChatGPT essay with PassMyEssay?

Paste a complete passage, run the scan and inspect the marked phrases in context. Keep the original sources nearby. If you want a rewrite, choose a paid plan and compare the revised wording with your argument before using it.

Can this prove my essay was written by ChatGPT?

No. PassMyEssay reviews phrase patterns and hidden characters. It does not establish authorship, produce a verified ChatGPT percentage or prove that an essay was independently written.

Will the checker validate references or plagiarism?

No. Open sources yourself and check quotation accuracy, attribution and whether each reference supports its claim. Phrase review is separate from plagiarism searching and citation verification.

Is ChatGPT essay rewriting free?

No. Rewriting and AI writing tools require a paid PassMyEssay plan. You can preview scan findings before choosing a plan; creating an account does not grant a free rewrite or trial.

Can I change only the flagged phrases?

Yes. The first two humanize modes target detected phrases and patterns. Use the last, full rewrite option when you want the entire passage revised, and review the result against the original.

Does a clean result guarantee a Turnitin outcome or grade?

No. A scan result cannot predict another service’s report or an assessment mark. Review the argument, sources and assignment requirements separately.
